Ernie, our regular Mastiff visitor, loves to splash in the cold water that fills our backyard baby pools. Meanwhile, our Resort Attendants are playing one-on-one with Oscar the cat in our indoor, cooled cat condo area.

It’s getting hot, y’all!

The Texas heat doesn’t stop our pets from having fun. We have many ways to keep your dogs and cats cool for the 9 months of Central Texas warmth.

The team at Firehouse Pet Resort ensures that every pet at Firehouse Pet Resort stays cool and comfortable, no matter how high the mercury climbs.

Here are 5 ways we keep dogs and cats cool and safe during the summer heat:

1. Outdoor play with sprinklers and misters for doggy playtime

Outside play areas are equipped with baby pools, misters, and sprinklers to create a refreshing environment. As the dogs play, misters gently spray them with cool water so they’re cool and comfortable.

Vinny, a Border Collie who is obsessed with water, can’t resist the sprinklers and often runs through them with pure delight. We also spray him with water or play tug-of-war while he’s splashing around the pool. It’s a good time for the pups and our team, who always goes above and beyond.

2. Shaded and cooled play areas for dogs

We’ve designed our outdoor spaces with shade and cooling in mind. The ground is regularly cooled with water, and our team monitors the temperature to decide when it’s time to move playtime indoors.

3. Indoor Play Areas

Our indoor playrooms become the go-to spot for fun and socialization each afternoon. These air-conditioned spaces are perfect for pets who prefer staying cool while still getting the necessary interaction, exercise, and mental stimulation.

Just like outdoor time, we pair pups by temperament.

And we always keep cats in cooled spaces – near their quiet cat condo area, which is far from the dogs. We offer cats one-on-one playtime (if they are in the mood) year-round.

Our Round Rock location also has a super fun climbing area for cats. It lets our feline guests a chance to explore, peek outside, and lie in the sun.

4. Constant Monitoring

Fear not: our team is vigilant about checking weather conditions and adjusting our doggy guests’ outdoor playtime accordingly.

5. Hydration Stations

And we make sure that fresh, cool water is always available. Whether inside or outside, your pet will stay hydrated.
