Ladybug the bichon’s perked ears and lit-up eyes are the first things we see when she trots through the Firehouse Pet Resort’s front doors. Her tail wags in anticipation of the day. She knows the routine: fun with friends and lots of love from our team.

Spend a day with us in this blog! We’ll give details about what your pets (cats and dogs) experience while in our care.

Our mission is to provide top-notch care and a home-away-from-home experience for pets enjoying playcare (our version of daycare) or during extended stays (boarding). We’re committed to providing a safe, engaging, and loving environment.

Here’s what a typical day looks like at Firehouse Pet Resort:

🐶 🕗 🐱 Morning arrival and weigh-in

Tail wags make us smile! We love seeing you and your pet come through our doors.

We start the day with a weigh-in. Knowing your pet’s starting weight helps us ensure they’re eating while in our care.

We then guide your pet to their room: two-story condos for cats or multi-sized rooms that you choose for your dog. Rooms are prepared with your pet’s favorite bedding or toys.

For example, Ladybug often arrives with her favorite blanket. We ensure her room is just how she likes it so she feels at home from the moment she steps through the door.

🐦 Breakfast for early birds

We feed our early arrivals. Dog and cat parents can choose to bring their own food or use ours.

Dallas, our energetic beagle, arrives just in time for breakfast. His owner packs his favorite meal, and we ensure he eats it all.

🥎 Morning playtime

Once everyone is settled, the fun begins! Pets are grouped by temperament to ensure they’re with friends they know or new buddies they’ll enjoy.

Dogs play four times a day! We introduce newcomers slowly to help them acclimate.

Teddy the Labradoodle and Bravo the Golden Doodle are best friends and part of a regular group of buddies. They love to run, chase, and explore the yard together, with Teddy often initiating games of fetch.

Since cats enjoy individual play, we take them out of their condos for one-on-one playtime each morning. We encourage them to engage with a toy or roam around the climbing tower.

🏠 Indoor and outdoor play

Throughout the day, dogs rotate between indoor and outdoor play areas. Our air-conditioned indoor playrooms are perfect as the day warms.

Our Resort Attendants monitor playgroups to prevent over-stimulation. As a result, your pet gets time to socialize, enjoy mental stimulation, and exercise without getting overwhelmed.

One of our smaller groups includes Charley the Beagle, Moxie the Jack Russell Terrier, Ladybug, and CJ. These four love the indoor playroom, especially when they play with the Kong Wubbas and ball pit. Their energy is contagious. They often become the group’s ringleaders, encouraging their friends to join in the fun!

Cats enjoy their air-conditioned cat room all day. If a Resort Attendant is playing with a cat on the carpet, we’ll cover the other condos to let the crated kitties enjoy their dark, quiet space in peace.

The gang’s all here: and they welcome new friends every day.
🍴💤 Lunchtime and relaxation

After a busy morning, dogs return to their rooms for lunchtime (if they eat three meals a day). For example, Bravo enjoys a hearty lunch followed by some quiet time with his favorite plush toy. Ladybug curls up for a nap on her cozy blanket.

The routine of activity and rest allows each pet to recharge.

Cats also get a daily meal if it’s part of their routine.

🌤️ Afternoon play and specialized care

Cats and dogs get another chance to play and enjoy the facilities after rest time. Our team is on hand to provide these services for those who need extra attention, such as grooming or enrichment activities.

We meet each pet’s individual needs, whether it’s an extra potty break or a puzzle to stimulate their mind.

Emmy, our water-loving cattle dog, can’t wait to get back outside in the afternoon. She especially loves splashing in the pool or running through the sprinklers. Vinny also loves waterplay and seems to get a kick out of the water misters.

🌙 🚗 Evening wind-down and departure

As we approach pet pick-up, cats and dogs are given dinner (if the owners instruct) and offered a final round of play or relaxation. We’re pretty good at judging what each pet needs!

By the time you pick them up, your pet will be happy, tired, and ready to go home with you.

Teddy’s mom recently said she likes that he’s tired but not over-stimulated at pick-up. This is the balance we aim to achieve.

For pets taking advantage of our overnight boarding offerings, we prepare them for a restful evening with calming music and a cozy setup in their rooms.

At Firehouse Pet Resort, we pride ourselves on offering your cats and dogs a day filled with joy, care, and comfort.

From morning greetings to evening wind-downs, each moment is designed to ensure your pet has the best experience at their “home away from home.” Did you know each pet receives a free first day of playcare? Book your pet’s next stay with us here.
